    Under the new sexting law, teens are charged with a misdemeanor instead of a felony and are not required to register as sex offenders.

    The sexting law only applies to teens who are below 18 years of age. Individual who is above 18 is charged under the state’s child pornography laws. If convicted, the individual shall face jail time and must register as a sex offender.
