In Indiana, anyone regarles of age caught sexting images containing minors engaging in sexual activity is charged under the state’s child pornography laws. It is a felony and if convicted, the person is required to register as a sex offender.
Recognizing that minors sexting is not truly child pornography, Indiana lawmakers have proposed bills to reduce charges for minors.
If the minors are in real relationships, they won’t face charges but until those bills become laws, anyone regarles of age caught sexting will be charged under the child pornography laws.
Punishments:
- A felony.
- From 3 to 8 years in prison time.
- Up to $10,000 in fines.
- Registration as a sex offender.
