Sexting Laws in Georgia:
Recognizing that minors sexting sexual images with each other is not truly child pornography and should not be charged under the child pornography laws, Georgia lawmakers have proposed several bills specifically for minors sexting and won’t require minors to register as sex offenders.
Until such bills become laws, minors currently share sexual images and/or videos with other minors face the same child pornography charges as adults.
Punishments:
Current punishments under the child pornography laws:
- Registration as a sex offender for at least 15 years.
- From 3 to 20 years in prison.
- Up to $25,000 in fines.
